Route Description

Come and join us on a beautiful circular walk starting in the ancient woodland of the Ashridge Estate.  This walk passes Bridgewater Monument, across woodland and farmland where you will start to see glimpses of the chalk hills of The Ridgeway.  We will then join one of Britains oldest trackways, passing the end point of this ancient route at Ivinghoe Beacon.  After that we will follow a path that takes in more beautiful views across the countryside before dropping back down into the picturesque village of Aldbury and then returning to the Ashridge Estate.  Optional coffee stop at the end

Route Information

The route is 15km | 9 miles and 300m of elevation

The terrain is woodland and chalk hills so can get very muddy at this time of year

Important information

There are public toilets and refreshments at the start and end of the route

A kit list will be supplied via email a few days before but with the time of year, suitable footwear for muddy ground will be essential along with waterproofs and warm layers.

The aim is to enjoy the views and the landscape so the pace will be steady to match the group's needs and this could impact the finish time.   You are responsible for your own health and safety so if you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on these hikes, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns.

If you wish to bring anyone under 18 (must have a supervising adult at all times) or any dogs then please consult with me before so we can check that the route is suitable for them
